Key Features

  • Structural analysis: Finite-element beam analysis with applicable LRFD, ASD, and service load combinations.
  • Steel design checks: Moment, shear, and deflection evaluations using standard steel shapes.
  • Streamlined input: Organized entry of beam geometry, material properties, supports, and loading.
  • Clear results: Loading, shear, moment, deflection, reaction, and element-result displays.
  • Professional reports: Organized, printable calculation reports prepared for engineering review.
  • Project management: Save multiple beam designs together in a project file.

Designed for Practical Engineering Work

SDCalcs was created around the workflow of structural engineers who regularly design steel beams for residential and custom-home projects. The objective is to reduce repetitive input while keeping the analysis assumptions, load combinations, governing results, and design checks visible for review.

Release Status

The core analysis and design workflow is functional and is undergoing final review in preparation for release. Additional screenshots, sample calculations, system requirements, licensing information, and release details will be posted as they become available.

Important: SDCalcs is an engineering aid and is not a substitute for the judgment, review, or responsible charge of a licensed structural engineer. All inputs, assumptions, calculations, and results must be independently reviewed for the applicable project, code, and jurisdiction.
